Hmmm, I just had a blueberry English muffin as part of my dinner tonight. I think it was a bit on the sour side, though. It came from Wolferman's. That's kind of a co-incidence, for me to then read here that other countries have blueberries more often than we do in the U.S.

It's good to read about your trip and I look forward to reading more.

Great pictures! I realized I have never seen a picture of Kris. Maybe you need to post some more personal pics on your other blog. ;)

I always enjoy visiting third-world countries, too. The people are amazing. They seem to have a joy for life that I don't often see in the U.S. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe they take more time for themselves and worry less about "making it."

I live close to Mexico, and have been intensely studying Spanish so we can drive there someday soon. :) I've been a few times and loved it, but haven't explored the border towns yet. There are a lot of people here who visit nearly every weekend...it's only about 35 miles from my house to the border.

Look, a whole country full of people living in small houses. :)

One thing I've noticed: I never receive criticism about the size of my house or the priority I place on various forms of Stuff from people who've spent any time outside of the first world. Spend a few weeks in Central America or Asia and you learn to appreciate how little people actually need. The completely US-centric viewpoint so many people have here is a bit depressing.

FYI, the Muppets are remodeled for different regions of the world - they really ARE that trippy in Latin America! http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Plaza_S%C3%A9samo

I came over from your finance blog. I have close friends who lived in Guatemala and we went to Tikal in 2006. Simply amazing! The pictures really don't do justice to actually being there. Also wasn't it crazy how they said there are still hundreds buried underground? That amazed me. How did you guys decide on Guatemala/Belize? We love visiting countries like this but a lot of people think we are strange :)
