I loved looking at the bird pictures! They are so colorful. You did a great job taking the photos and identifying the birds. It's amazing that some of them can fly with those heavy looking beaks. Too bad we don't have beautiful birds in our backyard; although we sometimes have the neighbor's peacocks.

Jd's right on this one-- it's not a king vulture. But it IS impressive-- look at those wings!

Our driver one day, John, told a story of driving a van along the road and coming upon two vultures feeding on some roadkill. As his fast-moving vehicle approached, they took flight in opposite directions. Unfortunately, one circled back and collided with the driver's side of the windshield. The glass was completely shattered; the vulture kept flying. Tough birds!

Hooray for birds!

If Kris is interested, I live in Brazil and I keep a blog of all the neat birds I see around here (much to the chagrin of my family, who care less than I do).

Here's one post about them:
http://daniellebrazil.blogspot.com/2008/09/bird-is-word.html

And here's me getting attacked by some turkey thing at a bird park:

enjoy!

Orange blossom is my favorite smell too. I have never been able to find a good alternative for the real thing, such as a candle. Oregon is too cold for orange trees, but there are some mock-orange bushes that are native. They smell the same and hold their flowers much longer then a fruit producing tree. I planted one right off my back porch, smells great for months.

J.D., I have to agree with you about the vulture. A king vulture has black-tipped wings and this one has white-tipped wings. This could possibly be another turkey vulture.

My favorite Belize picture of all is the one at the end of this post. I love the one of you and Kris holding hands on the horses. It's very sweet. You both look so happy.

And, J.D., you don't even look like you're in pain. :)

But I thought Kris Gates is always right, so it has to be a King Vulture. Right? :)
