Today marks the start of Blog Week in my life. I’m spending the next seven days focused on preparing Get Rich Slowly for my upcoming absence while Kris and I spend three weeks in Africa.

While editing guest posts this morning, I’m listening to my “angsty eighties” mix. By sheer chance, the song “Southern” by Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark came up on random play. The song features excerpts from Martin Luther King’s speeches.

An OMD fan has created a video for the track and posted it to YouTube. I like it:

Powerful stuff.

I remembered you saying your 4 week vacation was too long, what made you choose a 3 week vacation (it still seems like a pretty long time away from home) as opposed to 2 weeks or less?

Good question, Abby! The answer? We’d already made the plans before we realized that four weeks was too long. That’s okay, though — we’ll get a feel for what the right length is. We know 24 days is too long; let’s see how 19 days is.

I hope Toto’s “Africa” is on that playlist.

I’m curious – you seem to go away a lot these days – what happens to your cats? Do you have someone to look after them or do you put them in a cattery?

After a couple of bad experiences when going on holiday I dread living my cat for a long period of time and these days never for more than 2 weeks.

How do you and they manage?
