Grammar is all well and good, but I'd gladly give up some grammatical nuance in favor of logical thinking if I could, it's unfortunately low in supply in places like internet forums and blog comments.

This is an aside, I know, but language is a tool for communicating ideas, and I'd rather that people communicated good ideas in slightly sloppy (though usually still totally understandable) ways, rather than communicating poorly thought-out ideas with perfect style. The quality of writing used to convey a ridiculous idea seems immaterial to me.

Sorry for the tangent.

This drives me crazy too. I always try to explain "Would you use I there if X person wasn't in the sentence?!" But they just tell me I'm wrong. ME AM NOT WRONG! ME KNOW GRAMMAR!! :(

It's nails on a chalkboard to me too. I'm certainly not perfect grammatically, but that's one of my pet peeves!

I use we/us as a check for I/me, though I'm not entirely sure that'll help anyone else.

Perfect. That's the way I taught it to my kids when they were younger. Now they're always running around correcting others.
