It’s been a l-o-n-g time since I had fun with photography, but I’ve been using my cameras more and more recently. I like it. And while my “photography eye” hasn’t quite returned yet, I am beginning to see possibilities.

For instance, today at the Clackamas County Fair, I spied a litter of piglets. I knew right away that I wanted to photograph them. And I even knew how I wanted to compose the photograph. I waited a couple of minutes for their pen to clear of people-lets and then worked to compose a shot. I still have no sense of lighting, but I ended up with this, which both Kris and I like:

Piglets

“You should enter that photo in next year’s county fair,” Kris told me tonight. Maybe I will.

(p.s. As you’ll read at Get Rich Slowly in the morning, Kris’ triple-berry jelly was awarded “class champion” this year — it was the best jelly in the county!)

Congrats to you both! Kris – you have inspired me to start canning. I signed up for the Food in Jars Blog . I’ve been following JD for two years , or maybe a little more – easy to lose track. I am debt free – Thanks to advise & inspiration here except for mortgage and all the while being paid only 4 days a week due to a pay cut in 2008 . I live alone – so that can be easy and hard. Thanks for all your help and now hopefully my pantry full as well. Keep writing and inspiring. When I get some un-ear marked cash I’ll be buying your book too.

    Mmmm, bacon.

Adorable – I counted ten piglets. Nine plus a tiny portion of another at the top in the middle. Some people collect “pig” things. Maybe you could even sell this picture after you enter it in next year’s photography contest at the fair.

Aww they’re so cute, especially when they’re that small. I used to think that it would be cool to own a domesticated pig, that was a couple of years ago and I no longer think that, but I still find them cute. Supposedly George Clooney has a pet pig. I second your wife’s nomination, that perhaps you ought to try entering that in a contest.
